Home delivered meals

Volunteers deliver meals and smiles weekdays from 11 am to about 12.30 pm to homebound elderly. Sometimes the meal driver is the only person they see all day.

You can choose to volunteer one day a week, every other week or even just be on-call. Meals are picked up from a local senior center or drop-off point around 11 a.m. Most volunteer routes include 10 to 15 clients and take about an hour to complete. Mileage is reimbursed and training is provided.

Current volunteer routes are in Newport, Dayton, Elsmere, Taylor mill , Independence and Florence

Grocery Shopping

Some people are born to shop!  But for the elderly, walking through the gigantic aisle, trying to read  the small prints for the cost of and carrying the bags into the home can feel competing in an Olympic event . This is a flexible volunteer opportunity and usually takes about two or three hours per month. Volunteers schedule their own time at their own convenience. Volunteers can choose whether they prefer to shop for someone or take someone to the store.

One- Time Projects

Being a volunteer doesn’t mean a long term commitment. We have many one time projects that could be completed in a few hours. Families, groups and businesses find that volunteering together is a great way t develop team work and meaningful memories!.   Projects range from raking leaves, other yard work washing windows, painting ..etc

Senior center assistant

Senior Centers provide companionship, nutrition and a place for wellness activities. You can assist at one of our 9 senior centers in the Northern Kentucky area. Volunteers plan and assist with activities and day trips, help pack home-delivered meals and serve meals to seniors at the center, answer phone calls and assist with daily operations. Centers are open from 9 am to 3 pm , Monday through Friday.

Friendly Visitor or Caller.

Loneliness is one of the biggest problems older adults face. They have a wealth of knowledge and memories to share but sadly, they have no one to share them with. Friendly volunteers who either visit or call brighten their day. Volunteers can choose to call and visit seniors living in their homes or in long term care facilities. The time commitment is for as little as one or two hours a month and can fit in around other activities. Many seniors welcome visits from parents with children as well.

Elder friendly Program

The mission of this program is to assure a vibrant community through the active involvement of older adults.Volunteers for this program strives to improve the standard of life of volunteers by making their access to consumer goods and services in the market much easier.

As a volunteer evaluator, you will be sent "undercover" to evaluate a business. Once you complete your evaluation, your score will be combined with others to determine if the business meets Elder Friendly standards. This is a fun way to help businesses improve shopping conditions to favor older adults in the community.
