TEACHER/SITE MANAGER – Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission

 

Operate in compliance with any and all of the policies and procedures as established by NKCAC Head Start and the performance standards as established by the Federal Government regarding program operations to promote and provide quality service delivery to the children, families, and community of our service area.

 

Fulfill responsibilities as an early childhood development, and health services team member and carry out tasks as outlined in the Component Plan.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Work cooperatively with all components of the program.

2.      Maintain the confidentiality of staff and clients.

3.      Maintain a clean and organized work area.

4.      Participate in the annual self-assessment.

5.      Attend staff meetings and training, as required.

6.      Follow established child abuse reporting requirements.

7.      Assist in recruiting and training parent and community volunteers.

8.      Assist in securing and documenting In-Kind donations to meet the required Non-Federal share identified annually.

9.      Assist in the coordination of the curriculum development, classroom management, and Teachers training program.

10. Performance of any other work related task deemed necessary by direct supervisor.

11. Submit monthly reports to the Head Start Director.

12. Maintain a current record book for the Day Care Licensing Department of site employees and administrative staff (i.e. Criminal checks, TB verification, and employee training). Maintain Inspection Reports.

13. Monitor and maintain a safe, clean facility.

14. Serve as a liaison between site staff and Content Area Specialist staff.

15.  Ensure that the assigned Content Area Specialist completes a monthly monitoring checklist.

16. Notify and seek guidance from administrative office when a change is made in program routine or when emergency situations arise.

17. Participate in monthly parent meetings, training, workshops, etc.

18. Encourage parent participation in all areas.

19. Ensure that all safety drills (fire, tornado, earthquake, etc) are conducted as outlined in the program operating procedures and that reports are submitted to the administration office monthly.

20. Ensure daily operations are in accordance with Federal, State and local funding sources and licensing agency requirements.

21. Conduct and supervise safety drills (fire, tornado, earthquake)

22.  Oversee daily operations of Center facilities.

23. Provide on-site supervision to all Center Staff.

24. Ensure child/adult ratio of center classrooms.

25. Ensure that all trainings, as outlined in the program training plan, are conducted as specified.

26. Complete annual performance evaluations on all center staff with input from the appropriate Content Area Specialist.

27. Responsible to monitor and provide supervision to ensure that the center operates within compliance of NAEYC and STARS requirements.

28. Conduct monthly center meeting with all center staff.

29. Complete “Request for Conviction Records” and  “Child Abuse/Neglect (CAN) forms for all parents/volunteers and submit to the Human Resource Director for processing, maintain copies of completed forms at applicable center, including all training.

30. Responsible for scheduling weekly bus monitors.

31. Planning and providing daily classroom activities to meet social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs of individual children, with input of assistant.

32. Structure room arrangement in consultation with ECD/H Team, and maintain clean and orderly room, with proper use and care of equipment and supplies.

33. Supervise children in and out of classroom at all times.

34. Maintain all enrollee’s records, assessments, and screenings.

35. Prepare learning activities and materials during “Preparation and planning” time, when children are not present. Submit plans to site supervisor with requisitions for supplies.

36. Compile and maintain observations, documentation and evaluation of each child’s growth and development for the purpose of planning activities to suit individual needs.

37. Supervise Teacher Assistant; Provide guidance in working with children and parents; Provide input in Teacher Assistant’s evaluation.

38. Conduct a minimum of two home visits per year to each family, to be coordinated with Management staff to confer the needs of the individual children. A minimum of two parent teacher conferences per year to address the progress of the individual child.

39. Participate in staffing of individual children and weekly Family Advocate/Case Manager meetings.

40. Maintain a valid C.D.A. Certification and renew as necessary. Participate in C.D.A. training whenever offered, and must have willingness to take advantage of training and education as offered by the program.

41. Participate in the development of the education and/or special services plan for the individual child.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Prefer, Bachelor degree in the field of Early Childhood or a related  degree with additional courses in Early Childhood .At a minimum of an  Associate degree with three years experience in a child care or pre-school setting.

·        Supervisory skills

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

·        Experience in teaching young children in a Head Start classroom and/or similar environment.

·        Transportation to fulfill job requirements

·        NKCAC-Head Start cannot employ anyone convicted of a felony or has been found by the Cabinet to have abused or neglected a child.

·        Ability to work with people of diverse and varying socio-economic backgrounds.
