Global Supply Quality Engineer

We are currently seeking a Global Supply Quality Engineer to work in Batavia, Ohio and Xiamen, China. The ideal candidate has solid interpersonal and organizational skills, can execute multiple priorities, and is passionate and energetic with the ability to energize others. Reporting to the Director of Global Operations, this position requires an individual with solid experience as a Quality Engineer in an ISO/TS certified manufacturing operation. Must be focused on ensuring only the highest quality standards are maintained at all times consistent with internal standards. The Quality Engineer must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and be an effective team participant, as well as a disciplined independent worker in order to analyze data and make decisions. Travel to China is a part of this job and the ideal candidate respects and understands Asian culture and communication.

 

Responsibilities:

United States Operations:

·         Obtain, prepare and manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements for internal and external customers,

·         Oversee and manage manufacturing product quality from supplier to customer,

·         Prevent defects through potential problem analysis of the manufacturing process,

·         Build relationships with suppliers in Asia and customers in the US,

·         Work on a weekly basis with Quality Engineers and Technicians in the manufacturing plants in China and the US, and travel 3-4 times a year to China for 2-4 week periods of time.

 

Asia Operations:

·         Audit quality systems to ensure the manufacture of products in accordance with appropriate manufacturing standards, quality requirements, regulatory compliance standards, supplier audits and quality reporting standards and metrics

·         Evaluate corrective and preventative actions within the manufacturing environment and recommend actions for improvement

·         Prevent defects through potential problem analysis of the manufacturing process,

·         Participate and support teams in the timely and appropriate rework or disposition of non-conforming materials,

·         Build relationships with suppliers in Asia and customers in the US,

·         Evaluate potential Asian suppliers including those in Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.

 

In addition to above, qualified candidate must have:

·         BS in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations or closely related discipline; or an Associate Degree in applicable technology with 4-5 years as a Quality Engineer working for a manufacturer, experience in a precision machining environment is preferred.

·         Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing a plus

·         Prior experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans and advance quality planning

·         Experience with preventive and corrective action resolving customer and supplier problems, containment and process improvement efforts

·         Demonstrated experience developing measurement techniques for complex parts

·         Ability to understand statistical analysis and quantitative problem solving with effective root cause identification and fundamental process error correction

·         Experience working with Asian suppliers and/or international manufacturing is preferred
